历史背景：崇宁通宝是北宋徽宗赵佶崇宁年间(1102-1106年)始铸，年号钱。有崇宁通宝、崇宁重宝和崇宁元宝三种。 崇宁通宝当十型，钱文为徽宗亲书，所以又其为御书钱。
该钱文书法清秀骨瘦，铁划银钩，是徽宗赵佶瘦金书体存留世间的真实显现。宋徽宗更因铸钱精绝，当时官造成色在96%-96.7%，崇宁重宝、崇宁元宝，而与王莽并称\"钱法二圣\"，是现在青铜钱中价值高的两种钱币之一。
图中钱体厚重，青铜质，锈色古旧，包浆自然，字迹清晰，开门的老生坑。之所以谓之大字版，是因此品钱文四字饱满，寄廓接缘。\"宝、宁\"二字冠点长且向左倾;长点\"崇\"，斜丁\"宁\"，高走\"通\"等，与被公认的各谱均载的大字\"崇宁通宝\"雷同。除钱径略小外，轮廓宽窄、 穿孔大小、成色亦基本一致。

价值：崇宁通宝是宋徽宗时期比较重要的钱币之一，因此要仿制它是很难的。目前市场上作假一般有两种方式，一种是改刻，就是用普通钱币改刻成珍贵钱币。另外一种就是造假。如是用假币跟真币比较，就不难发现从文字上看，就没有瘦金体的刚劲有力，也缺乏御书体的那种大气。再一个是看它的铸造，真钱币铸工，在放大镜下也很难看出砂眼，而假钱币的质地比较粗糙，没有质感，就是不用放大镜也能看出它的砂眼。
